Pakistan Jordan Strengthen Economic Ties: Pakistan and Jordan have agreed to pursue a preferential trade agreement (PTA) aimed at boosting economic cooperation. This decision was made during the 10th session of the Pakistan-Jordan Joint Ministerial Commission, held in Islamabad on February 4-5, 2026.

The meeting, co-chaired by Pakistan’s Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan and Jordan’s Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply Yarub Qudah, focused on operationalizing cooperation under the Joint Ministerial Commission framework established in 1975.

A significant outcome was the agreement to initiate consultations on the PTA, which seeks to improve market access and reduce trade barriers. The framework aims to facilitate trade and encourage private sector involvement.

To support this initiative, a Joint Working Group on Trade and Investment will be activated, and the Pakistan-Jordan Business Council will be revived to enhance business-to-business engagement.

The two countries also signed a memorandum of understanding on information technology and telecommunications, promoting digital innovation and technology services. Cooperation will extend to banking, finance, industry, agriculture, halal standards, education, and healthcare.

Both governments expressed commitment to regular meetings of the Joint Ministerial Commission to ensure sustained coordination and effective implementation of agreed initiatives.
