Speaking at the National Jute Day 2026 event in Dhaka, he emphasized the need for affordable jute bags to replace environmentally harmful polythene.
The President called for innovation and diversification in jute products, urging entrepreneurs to develop high-quality, aesthetically pleasing items that meet global market demands. He also encouraged jute farmers to adopt advanced farming methods to produce superior fibre quality.
Highlighting jute’s role in Bangladesh’s socio-cultural heritage and economic development, Shahabuddin stressed the importance of unity among stakeholders, including farmers, producers, and policymakers, to enhance production through modern technology and private investment.
