Karnataka Budget 2026: On March 6, 2026, Karnataka announced its state budget, unveiling initiatives aimed at promoting eco-friendly agricultural practices. Key programs include the ‘Vasudhamruta’ and ‘Sasya Sanjeevini’ schemes, both set to transform the agricultural landscape over the next three years.
The ‘Vasudhamruta’ programme focuses on enhancing the organic carbon content of soil and improving its physical, chemical, and biological properties. Meanwhile, the ‘Sasya Sanjeevini’ scheme aims to identify pests and diseases early, providing farmers with eco-friendly control measures.
The budget also strengthens the ‘Millet Hub’, a self-sustaining institution to promote millets and organic products. It offers technical assistance, processing facilities, and market linkages to farmers and agri-entrepreneurs.
Additionally, the ‘Chief Minister’s Krishi Vistara’ scheme is set to boost farmers’ income through post-harvest activities with a ₹100 crore outlay. The Agriculture Department’s ‘Raitha Kare Kendra’ will be upgraded with AI technology to provide reliable information to farmers.
To address water usage, the budget promotes the ‘Alternate Wetting and Drying’ irrigation method, enhancing water efficiency in paddy cultivation and supporting climate change adaptation. ‘Raita Malls’ will be piloted in Kolar district to offer quality agricultural inputs.
The government plans a State-level advisory committee to tackle spurious farm inputs, ensuring safe and affordable agricultural products for farmers.
