As of March 24, 2026, Qatar Airways has successfully evacuated 7,650 Indian nationals from Doha to India over a span of three days, amidst the escalating conflict between the United States and Iran. The Indian embassy in Qatar confirmed the operation, highlighting the airline’s critical role in the evacuation efforts.

Between March 20 and March 22, Qatar-Airways operated 25 flights to India, as stated by the Indian Embassy in Doha. “The flight situation continues to improve,” remarked Aseem R Mahajan, the Ministry of External Affairs’ Additional Secretary for the Gulf region. The airline’s decision to run limited flights until March 28, 2026, is a direct response to the ongoing Middle Eastern conflict.

The conflict has resulted in significant disruptions in global air travel, leading to the shutdown of major hubs such as Dubai, Doha, and Abu Dhabi. As a result, thousands of passengers have been left stranded. Meanwhile, IndiGo has suspended flights to several destinations, including Doha and Kuwait, until March 28.

In response to the crisis, the Ministry of External Affairs reported that approximately 375,000 passengers have returned to India from West Asia since February 28. The Indian government is also facilitating the evacuation of its citizens from Iran through alternate routes via Armenia and Azerbaijan. So far, 1,031 Indians, including 707 students, have been successfully evacuated from Iran.
