Bangladesh envoy calls for addressing sensitive Issues with India amicably, as stated by Riaz Hamidullah, during a celebratory event marking Bangladesh’s Independence Day on March 26, 2026.

Speaking in New Delhi, Hamidullah reaffirmed Dhaka’s dedication to a mutually beneficial partnership with India, stressing the need for a deeper relationship that overcomes existing differences. The event was attended by Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh and Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri.

“In our close proximity, addressing difficult issues with sincerity and candour is essential, whether in trade, security, or resource sharing,” Hamidullah declared, highlighting the complexities both nations face in a changing global order.

The relationship between Bangladesh and India faced challenges during the interim government led by Muhammad Yunus. However, with Tarique Rahman as Prime Minister, efforts are underway to rebuild ties. Rahman has expressed Bangladesh’s commitment to advancing relations based on mutual trust and respect.

Looking ahead, both nations aim to navigate future uncertainties together, preserving values of open regionalism and multilateralism. The upcoming meetings are expected to focus on enhancing cooperation and shared benefits.
