UAE and Pakistan are intensifying their collaboration to ensure the delivery of essential food items amid ongoing Middle East tensions. On March 28, 2026, United Arab Emirates Consul General Bakheet Ateeq Alremaithi met with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to discuss strategies for overcoming supply chain disruptions.

The meeting, held in Karachi, comes as the Middle East faces significant logistical challenges due to United States and Israel’s military actions in Iran, alongside Iran’s blockade of the Strait of Hormuz. These events have caused widespread disruptions in regional supply routes.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has previously directed Pakistani officials to expedite plans for exporting surplus food and commodities to friendly nations in the Middle East. This initiative aims to support regional allies during the crisis.

During their discussions, both parties emphasized the importance of mutual cooperation. The United Arab Emirates consulate highlighted Pakistan’s commitment to facilitating the delivery of vegetables, fruits, meat, and other essential goods to the Gulf state.

Commerce ministry officials assured the United Arab Emirates of comprehensive support, with further meetings involving representatives from the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan, Pakistani airlines, and Emirates Airlines. Emirates Airlines is currently operating 53 weekly flights between the two countries, capable of transporting 15 tons of goods per flight.

Looking ahead, United Arab Emirates and Pakistan are expected to enhance their logistical frameworks to address the evolving regional situation and ensure continuous food supply.
