Bangladesh Diesel Import: On April 1, 2026, Bangladesh received a significant diesel shipment from India, marking a strategic move to bolster its energy security. A total of 7,000 metric tons of diesel was imported through the India-Bangladesh Friendship Pipeline to the Parbatipur Depot in Dinajpur.
Ahsan Habib Chowdhury, the deputy manager of Padma Oil PLC’s Parbatipur Depot, confirmed the arrival, emphasizing the government’s ongoing efforts to maintain a steady fuel supply. The shipment originated from the Numaligarh Refinery in Assam, India, and reached Bangladesh on March 31, 2026.
This consignment follows two previous shipments of 5,000 metric tons each earlier in March, totaling 17,000 metric tons for the month. The pipeline has played a crucial role in ensuring uninterrupted fuel distribution across Bangladesh.
The Parbatipur Depot has remained operational even on weekends to meet demand, with security provided by the Bangladesh Army and Border Guard Bangladesh. The government continues to prioritize energy security as a cornerstone of its economic strategy.
