On May 11, 2026, Pakistan issued a strong demarche to the Afghan Chargé d’Affaires following a vehicle-borne IED attack on a police post in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s Bannu District. The attack, executed by the terrorist group Fitna al-Khawarij, resulted in the deaths of 15 police constables.
The attack occurred when terrorists drove an explosives-laden vehicle into the Fateh Khel police checkpoint, causing a massive blast that destroyed the checkpoint and injured three other officers. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) of Pakistan, in a statement, expressed that the attack was orchestrated by terrorists operating from Afghan soil.
Pakistan’s government reiterated its grave concerns over Afghanistan’s territory being used for terrorist activities against Pakistan. The statement emphasized Pakistan’s right to respond decisively to such acts and highlighted the ongoing presence of terrorist organizations in Afghanistan, as documented by international reports.
The MOFA stressed that Pakistan has been urging the Afghan Taliban regime to take verifiable actions against groups like Fitna al-Khawarij and ISKP/Daesh. Despite multiple rounds of talks mediated by friendly nations, the Afghan Taliban have not taken substantial steps to curb these terrorist activities.
Pakistan has launched Operation Ghazab Lil Haq to prevent terrorist infiltration from Afghanistan. The government warned that if Afghanistan continues to harbor such organizations, Pakistan will not compromise on its national security. Looking ahead, Pakistan remains vigilant and committed to safeguarding its citizens.
