Pakistan and Egypt have taken significant steps to enhance their cooperation in counter-terrorism and narcotics control. On May 16, 2026, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and State Minister Talal Chaudhry met with a delegation from Egypt’s Interior Ministry, led by Major General Majdi Hilal, in Islamabad.
The meeting emphasized the vast opportunities for collaboration between the two nations in the fields of counter-terrorism, counter-narcotics, and internal security. Chaudhry highlighted the mutual benefits of such cooperation, while the Egyptian delegation, including Brigadier Issam Abu al-Khair, Brigadier Engineer Muhammad Razi, and Brigadier Doctor Muhammad Munir, expressed keen interest in learning from Pakistan’s experiences.
During the discussions, both sides acknowledged the benefits of institutional visits, including those by the Anti-Narcotics Force. A message of goodwill was conveyed to the Egyptian counterpart, and the interior secretary, along with other senior officials, was present.
This development is part of Pakistan’s broader strategy to strengthen bilateral ties with regional partners. Earlier in the week, a meeting in Dhaka resulted in a memorandum of understanding with Bangladesh to combat drug smuggling and enhance security ties.
