Heavy Rains Damage Houses and Crops in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Torrential rains and flash floods have struck Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), causing significant damage to homes, infrastructure, and agricultural fields across multiple districts. The heavy downpours, which began on July 21, 2025, have led to the collapse of several houses, particularly in vulnerable areas like Mansehra, Chitral, and Swat, leaving families displaced and in need of immediate relief.

Crops such as wheat, tobacco, and chana, which were nearing harvest in districts including Charsadda, Mardan, and Nowshera, have been severely impacted, raising concerns about reduced yields and potential food security challenges. The floods have also disrupted road networks, with landslides blocking key routes in hilly areas like Shangla and Kohistan, complicating rescue and relief efforts.

Local authorities, including the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), have mobilized to provide aid, distributing essentials like food and shelter to affected communities. Weather forecasts indicate that heavy rainfall may continue until July 25, 2025, increasing the risk of further flooding and landslides in KP and surrounding regions. Residents have been advised to avoid flood-prone areas and stay updated on weather alerts.

Posts on X reflect growing public concern, with reports of at least 16 fatalities in KP and Gilgit-Baltistan due to the recent weather events, underscoring the urgency of coordinated response efforts. Farmers are being urged to take precautions to protect remaining crops, while relief operations continue to address the immediate needs of those affected.
