Afghan Peace Key to Regional Stability, Says Pakistan’s Deputy PM

Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar, has emphasized that stability in Afghanistan is essential for Pakistan’s own security and prosperity. Speaking at a recent meeting in Malaysia’s capital during the ASEAN Regional Forum, Dar highlighted the need for enhanced cooperation with Afghanistan’s interim government. He noted recent diplomatic efforts, including his April 2025 visit to Kabul and a trilateral meeting with Afghan and Chinese foreign ministers, aimed at fostering mutual respect and regional stability.

Dar reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to preventing Afghan territory from being used for hostile activities against any nation, a sentiment echoed by Afghan Prime Minister Mullah Hasan Akhund during their discussions. The Afghan leader assured that Afghanistan would uphold its policy of non-interference, focusing on peaceful coexistence with neighbors. These engagements reflect a shared interest in strengthening bilateral ties, particularly in trade, energy, and security cooperation.

The Afghan Ministry of Foreign Affairs has welcomed these diplomatic initiatives, expressing hope for continued collaboration to address regional challenges. Pakistan’s focus on Afghanistan’s stability underscores the interconnected security dynamics of the region, with both nations aiming to build trust through dialogue and practical cooperation.
