The Bangladesh Air Force has initiated a comprehensive surveillance operation using advanced unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to ensure security during the 13th National Parliamentary Election. This strategic move, confirmed by officials at the Election Commission headquarters on February 11, 2026, aims to maintain order across polling stations nationwide.

Under the direct supervision of the Chief of Air Staff, a total of 3,730 Air Force personnel have been deployed. The operation includes helicopters, transport aircraft, and UAVs conducting Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions. These UAVs provide real-time information to law enforcement, facilitating prompt responses to potential disturbances.

The Election Commission has mandated the Air Force to deliver live aerial footage to the central monitoring cell and the Chief Adviser’s office. Voting is set for February 12, 2026, from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM in 299 constituencies, with Sherpur-3 excluded due to a candidate’s death.

A total of 51 political parties are participating, with 2,034 candidates contesting. The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) leads with 291 candidates, followed by Islami Andolan Bangladesh and Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami with 258 and 229 candidates, respectively. The Jatiya Party has 198 candidates, while the National Citizen Party has 32.

As Bangladesh prepares for this significant electoral event, the use of UAVs marks a pivotal advancement in election security, reflecting a commitment to transparency and safety. The outcome of this election will shape the country’s political landscape.
