Bangladesh Elections: The Election Commission of Bangladesh has implemented extensive security measures by placing over 90% of polling centers in 299 constituencies under CCTV surveillance. This move comes ahead of the 13th National Parliamentary Election and a referendum scheduled for February 12, 2026.

In a press briefing at the Nirbachon Bhaban in Dhaka, Election Commissioner Brigadier General (retired) Abul Fazal Md Sanaullah announced the deployment of 958,000 law enforcement personnel nationwide. This unprecedented deployment includes 2,098 executive magistrates and 657 judicial magistrates.

Sanaullah emphasized that such a large-scale deployment of forces and resources is unparalleled in the country’s history. ‘There is no reason to worry about any untoward incidents surrounding the election,’ he assured. ‘Even if isolated incidents occur, we are fully prepared to handle them.’

Additional security measures include the use of drones and body-worn cameras in sensitive areas. Law enforcement agencies have also recovered 850 firearms since December 13, believed to have been stockpiled for election-related sabotage.

The Election Commission plans to provide updates on the situation through press conferences every two hours on polling day. Voting will take place in 299 of the 300 constituencies due to the death of a candidate in one seat.
