Bangladesh has formalized its commitment to advancing nuclear technology by signing the Fifth Country Programme Framework (CPF) with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on March 18, 2026, in Vienna, Austria.
The agreement was signed by Md Anwar Hossain, Secretary of the Ministry of Science and Technology, representing Bangladesh, and Hua Liu, Deputy Director General and Head of the Department of Technical Cooperation, representing the IAEA.
This strategic document sets medium-term cooperation priorities, focusing on nuclear and radiation safety, energy, food and agriculture, human health, water and environment, nuclear knowledge development, and industrial radiation technology.
As a member of the IAEA since 1972, Bangladesh aims to leverage this framework to expand the peaceful use of nuclear technology, supporting its sustainable development goals across various sectors.
