On February 17, 2026, the newly elected members of the 13th National Bangladesh Parliament were officially sworn in at the South Plaza of the National Parliament. Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin administered the oath at 10:42 am.

The ceremony was attended by over 1,000 local and international guests, marking a significant event in the country’s political landscape. Following the MPs’ oath, the new cabinet was scheduled to be sworn in later in the afternoon by the President.

The Constitution Reform Council members were also set to take their oath, a process overseen by the Chief Election Commissioner due to the absence of the speaker and deputy speaker.

The Election Commission had published the official results on February 13, revealing that the Bangladesh Nationalist Party-led alliance secured 211 out of 297 seats. Meanwhile, the Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami-led 11-party alliance won 77 seats, with seven seats going to independent candidates.

This event signifies a shift in Bangladesh’s political dynamics, with a four-tier security arrangement ensuring the ceremony’s smooth execution. The focus now shifts to the new government’s policy directions and potential constitutional reforms.
