On February 10, 2026, the Sindh cabinet, under the leadership of Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, sanctioned a series of pivotal reforms aimed at enhancing governance and environmental protection including mangrove forests. Among the key initiatives was the decision to expand protected mangrove forests in the Indus Delta, a move expected to bolster ecological sustainability in the region.

The Sindh cabinet meeting also saw the approval of digital property registration for overseas Pakistanis, facilitating online sale deeds through diplomatic missions. This system, linked to NADRA, will enable biometric and facial recognition at various registration offices, ensuring a seamless process for expatriates.

Further, the provincial government transferred the e-stamping system and recognized consumer courts as traffic courts under the Sindh Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Act 2025. This amendment aims to expedite the settlement of e-challans and traffic violations without the need for new court infrastructure.

Historically, the Indus Delta has faced challenges due to deforestation and environmental neglect. The expansion of mangrove forests is seen as a crucial step towards reversing ecological damage and promoting biodiversity.

Looking ahead, these reforms are expected to streamline governance processes, enhance environmental protection, and improve the legal framework for expatriates. The initiatives reflect a strategic effort to modernize the province’s administrative and environmental policies.
