Navitaire software outage causes flight operations disruption: On February 19, 2026, a significant disruption in flight operations was caused by the Navitaire software outage, a critical system used worldwide for airline bookings and check-ins. This incident affected multiple airlines across India, including IndiGo, Air India Express, Akasa Air, and SpiceJet, during the early hours, leading to delays at major airports such as Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA).
The outage occurred between 6:45 am and 7:28 am, with intermittent issues from 8:10 am to 8:25 am, causing temporary delays in the check-in and boarding processes. Navitaire, a subsidiary of Amadeus, provides essential reservation, inventory, and departure control systems to low-cost and hybrid carriers globally.
The disruption led to long queues and congestion, particularly at IGIA, which was already experiencing heightened activity due to the arrival of delegates for the AI Impact Summit. The situation was further complicated by multiple VIP movements, necessitating a Notice to Air Missions (NOTAM) that imposed temporary flight restrictions around Delhi.
Despite the challenges, airlines managed to continue operations manually, implementing backup procedures to minimize delays. Although some flights experienced minor departure delays, there were no cancellations attributed to the software outage. Operations began to normalize as the day progressed.
