On the nights of July 2 and 3, 2025, Pakistan’s security forces successfully thwarted an infiltration attempt by 30 terrorists along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in the Hassan Khel area of North Waziristan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The military’s media wing reported that the group, identified as members of a banned outfit, was detected attempting to cross into Pakistani territory. In a precise and coordinated operation, all 30 infiltrators were neutralized, and a significant cache of weapons, ammunition, and explosives was recovered.

The operation highlights the vigilance of Pakistan’s security forces in safeguarding the nation’s borders amid heightened terrorist activity in the region. North Waziristan has long been a hotspot for cross-border militancy, with groups exploiting the porous border to launch attacks. The military has called on Afghan authorities to strengthen border management to prevent such incidents, emphasizing the need for cooperation to curb terrorism originating from Afghan soil.

This engagement follows a series of similar incidents, including a March 2025 operation in the same region where 16 terrorists were eliminated. Pakistan has faced a surge in terror attacks, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, with over 500 incidents reported in 2024 alone, resulting in significant casualties. The government and security forces remain committed to combating terrorism and securing the nation’s frontiers.

Posts on X reflect public acknowledgment of the operation, with users commending the professionalism of the forces in preventing a potential attack. The incident underscores the ongoing challenge of border security and the need for regional efforts to address the root causes of militancy.
