Karachi is bracing for intense monsoon activity beginning July 19, 2025, as monsoon currents strengthen across Sindh. According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), moderate to heavy rainfall is expected to continue through July 20, with temperatures ranging from 31°C to 35°C and humidity levels around 70%.

Southwest winds at 15–20 km/h may bring some relief, but urban flooding remains a serious concern—especially in low-lying areas such as Gulshan-e-Hadeed and Malir, where drainage infrastructure struggles during intense rain spells.

Across X (formerly Twitter), residents have voiced concern, calling on city authorities to clear clogged drains and prepare emergency plans, recalling the chaos caused by past monsoon seasons.

The PMD has urged the public to stay indoors during heavy rainfall, avoid open areas, and take precautions against lightning and strong winds. The weather system extends beyond Karachi, with heavy showers also expected in Sukkur, Thatta, and Jacobabad.

Local governments and emergency response teams have been put on high alert, with efforts underway to ensure swift responses to any power outages or transport disruptions. Authorities advise residents to stay informed through PMD alerts and official updates to navigate the monsoon period safely.
