Pakistan and China reaffirmed their strong military and strategic alliance during a high-level visit by Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, to Beijing in July 2025. The trip aimed to enhance coordination against hybrid and transnational threats and further solidify the longstanding partnership between the two countries.
During the visit, Field Marshal Munir held extensive talks with key Chinese figures, including Vice President Han Zheng, Foreign Minister Wang Yi, and General Zhang Youxia, Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission. The discussions focused on deepening defense collaboration, counterterrorism initiatives, joint training programs, and maintaining regional security, particularly in relation to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
China acknowledged Pakistan’s vital role in maintaining regional peace and appreciated the Pakistan Army’s efforts in ensuring the stability of South Asia. Both nations agreed to expand military-to-military engagements and continue fostering bilateral trust. A guard of honor was presented to Munir at the PLA headquarters, symbolizing the respect and strength of the relationship between the two armed forces.
Public commentary on social media highlighted the importance of this visit, particularly for the security of CPEC and broader strategic ties. Both sides expressed a shared vision for sovereignty, mutual respect, and long-term regional stability.
