Pakistan and China have reaffirmed their enduring alliance as President Asif Ali Zardari hosted Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong in Islamabad to discuss deepening bilateral ties. Zardari underscored Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with China across key sectors — including trade, culture, infrastructure, and regional connectivity.
The meeting builds on the momentum of Zardari’s February 2025 state visit to Beijing, where he met with President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang. Those high-level talks focused on expanding Phase II of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), counter-terrorism collaboration, and broader economic engagement.
Zardari thanked China for its steadfast support during Pakistan’s ongoing economic recovery. He highlighted how initiatives like CPEC have contributed to development and stability — especially as Pakistan navigates domestic and regional challenges.
Recent agreements signed between the two countries include expanded cooperation in agriculture, information technology, and renewable energy. Both governments reiterated their joint commitment to combat terrorism and safeguard Chinese nationals working on CPEC projects.
Marking the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations, Pakistan and China also pledged to enhance cultural exchanges and multilateral coordination. As 2025 progresses, the “all-weather” partnership appears poised for even deeper strategic alignment — anchored in shared economic and security goals.
