Pakistan has strongly condemned Israel’s recent airstrikes on Syrian territories, including Suweida, Daraa, and Damascus, describing them as reckless and a violation of international law. The strikes, which reportedly targeted key Syrian state institutions and infrastructure, have been criticized for undermining Syria’s sovereignty and escalating tensions in an already unstable region.
At a UN Security Council briefing, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Munir Akram (note: not Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, who was replaced in 2022), called for an immediate end to Israeli military operations in Syria. He emphasized adherence to the 1974 Disengagement of Forces Agreement and relevant UN resolutions, including Resolution 497, which declares Israel’s annexation of the Golan Heights “null and void.”
The Pakistani government also activated its Crisis Management Unit to assist Pakistani nationals currently in Syria, issuing emergency contact details for citizens affected by the conflict.
Online, Pakistani users on X (formerly Twitter) echoed the government’s stance, expressing solidarity with Syria and condemning the strikes as provocative and destabilizing. Many also criticized the international community for what they view as selective silence in the face of Israeli aggression.
Pakistan reiterated its unwavering support for Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, calling on the international community to prioritize peace and stability in the Middle East over further aggression and military escalation.
