Pakistan: Eight Militants Killed While Attempting Infiltration from Afghan Side

Pakistani security forces killed eight militants attempting to cross the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in Bajaur district on July 8, 2025. The operation took place in the mountainous region of Lowi Mamund tehsil, where intelligence reports prompted a swift response to prevent the infiltration. The militants, identified as members of the banned Fitna al-Khawarij group, were neutralized during an intense exchange of fire. Local residents reported one child wounded during the clashes, highlighting the risks to civilians in such operations.

Following the incident, security forces heightened surveillance along the border to deter future infiltration attempts. Posts on X indicate public support for the military’s actions, with users emphasizing the need for robust border security to counter terrorism threats. The operation comes amid heightened regional tensions, with Pakistan repeatedly urging the Afghan interim government to prevent its territory from being used for attacks against Pakistan. This incident follows a similar operation in North Waziristan earlier in July, where 30 militants were killed, underscoring ongoing security challenges in the region.

Southasiandesk.com will continue to report on efforts to maintain stability and security along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.
