Pakistan-Indonesia CEPA: Pakistan and Indonesia have agreed to expedite efforts to transform their existing preferential trade agreement into a comprehensive economic partnership agreement by 2027. This decision was reached during a meeting on February 10, 2026, between Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and a visiting Indonesian delegation led by Minister for Investment and Downstream Industry Rosan Roeslani.

Prime Minister Sharif emphasized the longstanding brotherly relations between the two nations and expressed his best wishes to Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto. He highlighted the productive outcomes of President Subianto’s visit to Pakistan last year, which was instrumental in deepening bilateral relations.

Minister Roeslani, who also serves as CEO of Indonesia’s Sovereign Wealth Fund, expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and reaffirmed Indonesia’s commitment to enhancing bilateral ties. Discussions during the meeting included exploring potential collaboration in sectors such as health, agriculture, and investment, with a focus on leveraging Indonesia’s experience with sovereign wealth funds.

The meeting was attended by key Pakistani officials, including Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and other senior ministers, who engaged in wide-ranging discussions on economic cooperation. The talks also covered the potential for mutual investment and the exchange of best practices.

As both countries aim to strengthen their economic partnership, upcoming meetings and agreements are expected to further solidify this relationship. The shared commitment to a comprehensive partnership signifies a significant step towards enhanced economic cooperation between Pakistan and Indonesia.
