Pakistan Saudi Arabia Relations: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on March 13, 2026, in Jeddah to discuss escalating tensions in the Middle East. The meeting underscored Pakistan’s commitment to supporting Saudi Arabia amid ongoing Iranian missile and drone strikes on Gulf states.

The discussions, attended by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, focused on the need for regional stability. Saudi defense authorities reported intercepting more missiles from Iran the same day.

During the meeting, Sharif conveyed Pakistan’s solidarity with Saudi Arabia, emphasizing the importance of working together for peace. The visit was part of Pakistan’s diplomatic outreach to defuse tensions between Iran and Gulf states.

Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts include urging Tehran to cease targeting Gulf countries, warning of potential escalation. Despite maintaining strong ties with Saudi Arabia, Pakistan also seeks to balance its relations with neighboring Iran.

The visit followed a call between Sharif and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, reflecting Pakistan’s strategic diplomacy. Islamabad continues to engage with regional capitals to promote dialogue and prevent further conflict.
