Pakistan-Uzbekistan trade: On February 8, 2026, Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Commerce, Jam Kamal Khan, highlighted the country’s efforts to expand trade and industrial cooperation with Uzbekistan. This announcement was made during the inauguration of the Made in Uzbekistan Exhibition, held alongside the Pakistan-Uzbekistan Business Forum in Islamabad.
The event was attended by notable figures, including Uzbekistan’s Minister of Trade, Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan, Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research Rana Tanveer Hussain, and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Industries and Production Haroon Akhtar Khan. The exhibition, showcasing Uzbek products and industrial capabilities, aims to strengthen economic ties between the two nations.
Minister Kamal Khan emphasized the potential of these exhibitions to foster business connections and joint ventures. He noted that Pakistan values its economic relationship with Uzbekistan and is committed to enhancing trade through mechanisms such as the Preferential Trade Agreement and the Joint Business Council.
Past forums have led to memoranda of understanding and commercial engagements, and the current forum is expected to further broaden cooperation in sectors like textiles, leather, food, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, engineering, consumer goods, and logistics. Kamal Khan encouraged businesses to explore partnerships, technology exchanges, and market access opportunities.
Despite regional connectivity challenges, Pakistan remains committed to facilitating Uzbek trade and transit. The exhibition reflects Uzbekistan’s growing industrial base, complementing Pakistan’s export-oriented sectors. Improved transport and logistics links are seen as crucial for reducing costs and enhancing regional market access.
The exhibition, running from February 5 to 6, 2026, provides a platform for Pakistani and Uzbek businesses to discuss potential commercial arrangements. Continued dialogue and regular business exchanges are key to sustaining momentum in bilateral trade relations.
