Rajshahi Launches Fuel Management App to Curb Hoarding

In an effort to streamline fuel distribution and prevent illegal hoarding, Rajshahi has launched a new Fuel Management application. The initiative was formally inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Kazi Shahidul Islam at the Gul Gafur Filling Station in Kumarpara on April 12, 2026.

The app introduces a rationing system for fuel sales, allowing motorcycle riders to purchase fuel worth up to Tk 500 every five days, while private car and microbus owners can buy up to Tk 2,000 within the same period. Fuel will be dispensed by scanning vehicle registration numbers at filling stations, eliminating the need for separate customer registration.

Speaking at the launch, Deputy Commissioner Islam emphasized that the initiative aims to ensure smooth access to fuel without long queues and to prevent stockpiling. He highlighted that the system would automatically detect and prevent attempts to purchase fuel before the allowed timeframe.

Special provisions have been made for farmers, with diesel for agricultural use distributed through designated cards to maintain accountability and support uninterrupted farming activities. The initiative has been well-received by the public, who view it as a timely solution to reduce congestion and irregularities at filling stations.
