Six members of a family — including four children — were injured on July 11, 2025, when the roof of a mud house collapsed in the Omarzai area of Charsadda district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The collapse occurred during the early hours of the morning following heavy monsoon rains that lashed the region overnight.

According to Rescue 1122, the victims were immediately pulled from the debris and taken to Charsadda District Headquarters Hospital, where all were reported to be in stable condition. Four of the injured were guests visiting from Karachi. The children, aged between five and nine, suffered multiple injuries, including head wounds.

The collapse coincided with rising water levels in the Pali Dam, which triggered flooding in the Jundi River. Rescue 1122 teams — including six ambulances, a disaster vehicle, and 90 personnel — were deployed to affected areas. Over 105 people were rescued and shifted to safe shelters in Omarzai, Gedar Kaly, and Sherpao Kanyur.

Charsadda Deputy Commissioner Azmat Wazir and District Emergency Officer Jawad Ali urged residents to avoid riversides and unstable structures, noting that a ban on riverside access remains in place.

The flooding follows a province-wide alert issued by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), warning of urban and riverine flooding due to a fresh monsoon spell forecast to continue from July 11 to 17. Officials report that at least 22 homes have been damaged across KP so far.

Recent monsoon activity has also caused flash floods and landslides in Gilgit-Baltistan and other districts. Earlier this week, two children drowned in separate incidents in the Indus River (Torghar) and Jabba Nullah (Mansehra), underscoring the danger posed by rapidly rising water levels.

Southasiandesk.com will continue monitoring the flood situation across northern Pakistan, as residents brace for more rainfall and possible evacuations in the coming days.
