Three TTP Militants Neutralized in Swat Operation

In a decisive intelligence-based operation in Swat’s Barikot tehsil, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and local police neutralized three high-profile militants linked to the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), also referred to as Fitna al-Khawarij. The operation, conducted in the Parrai area, targeted individuals involved in multiple attacks on security forces and civilians.

The slain militants, identified as Ajmal (alias Waqas) from Mangora, Rahim Ullah Rehmani, an Afghan national, and Mateen Ullah from Shangla, were wanted for their roles in targeted killings, including attacks on Village Defense Council members and law enforcement personnel. Ajmal, a key figure, carried a Rs 2 million bounty for his involvement in several terrorist activities, including bombings using improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and extortion schemes funded by foreign sources.

The operation saw an intense exchange of fire after the militants opened fire on the joint CTD-police team. Security forces responded swiftly, eliminating the threat. No casualties were reported among law enforcement. The CTD recovered arms and ammunition from the site, further disrupting the militants’ network.

This operation marks a significant blow to TTP’s presence in Swat, a region that has faced persistent militant activity despite efforts to maintain peace. Posts on X reflect public support for the security forces’ actions, with many praising the CTD’s precision in targeting high-value threats. The Inspector General of Police, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Zulfiqar Hameed, and Regional Police Officer, Malakand Division, Sher Akbar Khan, commended the operation, emphasizing ongoing efforts to ensure security across the province.
