US Eyes investment in Pakistan: The United States has shown interest in investing in Pakistan’s IT, mining and energy sectors. This development follows a meeting on February 22, 2026, between Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Finance, Muhammad Aurangzeb, and US Secretary of Commerce, Howard Lutnick, in Washington.
During the meeting, both parties discussed enhancing trade and investment relations. The US expressed specific interest in Pakistan’s ICT, mining, and energy sectors. They reaffirmed their commitment to economic cooperation and announced the US-Pakistan Trade and Investment Forum scheduled for March 31, 2026.
The forum is expected to feature prominent companies and ministerial-level participation from both nations. Aurangzeb, accompanied by key Pakistani officials, met with Lutnick at the Department of Commerce to discuss these opportunities.
Historically, US-Pakistan economic relations have seen various phases of cooperation and conflict. This renewed engagement aims to strengthen ties and explore large-scale projects in the coming months. The focus remains on strategic sectors that promise mutual benefits.
