A devastating Uttarkashi cloudburst, where Dharali region has left families in Maharashtra’s Jalgaon district clinging to hope. Sixteen people from Jalgaon remain missing after flash floods tore through the area on August 5, 2025, sweeping away homes and hopes along the Gangotri pilgrimage route. Jalgaon Collector Ayush Prasad reported that of the 19 residents known to be in Uttarkashi, contact has been made with only three. “We’re working tirelessly with Uttarakhand authorities to find them,” he said, his voice heavy with urgency.
Flood After Uttarkashi Cloudburst
The floods, triggered by a sudden surge in the Kheer Ganga river, have claimed at least five lives and left over 50 people unaccounted for, including a group of 28 tourists from Kerala, many settled in Maharashtra. Social media posts on X capture the anguish. Rescue teams, including the Indian Army and ITBP, have saved 190 people, but blocked roads and relentless rain slow their efforts.
CM Stance on This Disaster
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, visiting the ravaged site, promised swift action. “We stand with the people of Dharali,” he said, as helicopters airlifted equipment to clear debris. For families in Jalgaon, each passing hour without news deepens the pain of the Uttarkashi disaster.
