Wafi Energy Pakistan CEO Named as Zubair Shaikh

Wafi Energy Pakistan Limited, formerly Shell Pakistan Limited, has officially confirmed Zubair Shaikh as its Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective February 1, 2025. The formal announcement was made on July 29, 2025, through a notice to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX).

Details of Wafi Energy Pakistan CEO

Zubair Shaikh had been serving as interim CEO and now takes the helm as the company solidifies its new identity under Wafi Energy Holding Limited, an Abu Dhabi-based firm that acquired an 87.78% stake in the business. The rebranding from Shell Pakistan to Wafi Energy Pakistan was completed in January 2025, following the acquisition finalized in October 2024.

Shaikh joined Shell in 2006 and brings nearly two decades of experience across finance, sales, marketing, and strategy. He has held leadership positions in Shell’s Lubricants and Mobility segments and is considered well-equipped to lead the company’s next phase under new ownership.

Wafi Energy Pakistan remains the exclusive licensee of the Shell brand in Pakistan, continuing to operate fuel stations and market petroleum products under the Shell name. Recent updates on the company’s official channels have emphasized its push for sustainable fuel solutions and expanded infrastructure development—a move that aligns with Pakistan’s evolving energy landscape.

What’s Next

Shaikh’s permanent appointment signals continuity and a long-term vision for growth and investment in Pakistan’s downstream petroleum sector. It reflects the new owners’ confidence in his leadership at a time when Wafi Energy aims to strengthen its presence and contribute to the country’s energy security.
