Women’s Bangladesh Premier League T20: The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced the commencement of the inaugural Women’s Bangladesh Premier League T20 tournament, a significant development in women’s cricket. Scheduled from April 3 to April 15, 2026, this franchise-based tournament will feature three teams, blending experienced national players with emerging local talent through a player draft system.

The BCB aims to elevate the sport by allowing franchises to recruit overseas professional players, enhancing the competitive standard and offering global exposure. ‘The WBPL represents a pioneering step forward in the professional development of women’s cricket in Bangladesh,’ stated the BCB.

The tournament will be governed by a dedicated WBPL Governing Council, chaired by Rubaba Dowla, the BCB Director and Chairperson of the Women’s Wing. Further details regarding franchises, draft regulations, fixtures, venues, and broadcast partners are anticipated soon.

This initiative marks Bangladesh’s first-ever franchise-based Twenty20 competition for women, setting a precedent for future developments in the region’s cricket landscape.
