Pakistan IT Exports: Pakistan’s information technology exports have witnessed a significant growth of 20% year-on-year, reaching $2.6 billion in the first seven months of the fiscal year 2026, as reported by Topline Research. In January 2026, the country recorded IT exports of $374 million, reflecting a 19% increase from the previous year, although there was a 14% decrease month-on-month from December due to typical seasonal variations and delayed payments from some international markets, analysts noted.

Net IT exports, calculated by subtracting sector-related imports from total exports, amounted to $314 million in January, marking a 12% increase year-on-year. This underscores the growing contribution of the sector to Pakistan’s external accounts.

The government has set an ambitious target of $5 billion in IT exports for FY26. However, Topline Research anticipates that the actual growth will range between 18% and 20%, bringing the total receipts for the fiscal year to approximately $4.5 billion, up from $3.8 billion in FY25.

Looking forward, the government’s medium-term development agenda, ‘Uraan Pakistan,’ aims to boost annual IT exports to $10 billion by FY29. This goal, translating into a compound annual growth rate of about 27% over the next three years, will require sustained policy incentives, improved digital infrastructure, and enhanced collaboration between the public and private sectors to maintain global competitiveness in software and freelance services.
