The Pakistan Super League (PSL) witnessed a significant development as the Sialkot Stallionz franchise was rebranded as Multan Sultans. This change follows a majority takeover by CD Ventures, confirmed by league officials on March 4, 2026, during a press conference in Lahore. The event was attended by PSL Chief Executive Salman Naseer, franchise owner Hamza Majeed, and CD Ventures head Gohar Shah.

CD Ventures acquired a majority stake in the franchise, initially purchased by OZ Developers for Rs1.85 billion at the PSL auction in January. The franchise’s annual valuation has risen to Rs2 billion with this new investment. Salman Naseer stated that Gohar Shah, upon becoming CEO, requested the franchise name change, which was approved, thus marking the team’s return as Multan Sultans.

Hamza Majeed described the deal as a strategic partnership endorsed by both the Pakistan Cricket Board and the PSL. He praised Shah’s enthusiasm, stating that his energy would bolster the franchise ahead of the new season. Gohar Shah emphasized reviving the Multan identity, citing the region’s importance to Pakistan cricket and outlining a philosophy of ‘Total Cricket’.

Despite the rebranding, Majeed assured Sialkot supporters of continued recognition of their roots. The franchise plans to incorporate elements of the Stallionz identity and will arrange transport for fans to attend matches in Multan. This change precedes the PSL season 11, starting March 26, 2026, across five venues in Pakistan.
