Bangladesh-Japan Talks: Bangladesh and Japan have renewed their efforts to finalize negotiations on the operation and maintenance of the third terminal at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. The high-level meeting took place on April 3, 2026, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Dhaka.

Key figures in attendance in Bangladesh-Japan talks included Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman, Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Afroza Khanam, and Assistant Vice Minister of Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, Nakayama Rieko.

The discussions centered on resolving outstanding financial and operational issues to bring the nearly completed terminal into operation. Both sides expressed optimism about reaching a mutually beneficial agreement.

This meeting follows a previous session on March 13, 2026, highlighting ongoing high-level engagement between the two nations. The successful operation of the terminal is expected to enhance Bangladesh’s aviation infrastructure significantly.

Looking ahead, further meetings are anticipated as both countries work towards finalizing the agreement, which is crucial for boosting regional connectivity and economic growth.
