China Bangladesh Cooperation: On April 8, 2026, Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen announced China’s intention to deepen its cooperation with Bangladesh in water resources management. The statement was made during a meeting with Bangladesh’s WRM Minister Md Shahiduddin Chowdhury Anee and State Minister Forhad Hossain Azad.

The discussions, held in Dhaka, focused on strengthening bilateral ties in the water sector. Ambassador Yao emphasized China’s willingness to enhance collaboration in areas such as hydrological information sharing, flood forecasting, capacity building, and personnel training. He also highlighted the importance of water conservancy project implementation.

China and Bangladesh have a history of successful cooperation in water resources, which has produced significant results. The Bangladeshi ministers acknowledged the sector’s role as a cornerstone of bilateral relations and expressed eagerness to expand practical cooperation for mutual benefit.

Looking ahead, both countries aim to advance their partnership through upcoming meetings and potential agreements, which are expected to bolster regional stability and development.
