India-China Talks: On April 29, 2026, India’s Defence Minister Rajnath Singh met with China’s Defence Minister Dong Jun during the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Defence Ministers’ Meeting in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. The discussions centered around maintaining peace and stability along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) and addressing broader regional security challenges.

Both ministers emphasized the importance of dialogue in resolving ongoing tensions and committed to enhancing communication channels. The meeting also covered the situation in West Asia, highlighting the strategic interests of both nations in this volatile region.

Historically, the India-China border has been a flashpoint of conflict, with previous agreements like the 1993 Border Peace and Tranquility Agreement aiming to mitigate tensions. However, recent years have seen renewed disputes, necessitating continued diplomatic engagement.

Looking forward, both countries are expected to hold further discussions to reinforce mutual trust and explore collaborative security measures. The outcomes of this meeting are seen as a positive step towards regional stability.
