Bypoll Election Results 2026: The Election Commission of India announced the bypoll results for seven assembly seats across five states on May 4, 2026. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) emerged victorious in Nagaland, Tripura, and Gujarat, solidifying its influence in the northeast region.

In a significant win for the Indian National Congress, the party secured the Bagalkot seat in Karnataka and is projected to win Davanagere South. This victory marks a crucial foothold for Congress in the southern state.

In Maharashtra, Sunetra Pawar, the deputy chief minister, maintains a commanding lead in Baramati. She contested the seat following the death of her husband and sitting MLA, Ajit Pawar, indicating continuity in leadership.

The bypolls held on April 9 in Karnataka, Nagaland, and Tripura, and on April 23 in Gujarat and Maharashtra, reflect shifting political dynamics. However, the Goa bypoll for the Ponda constituency was canceled by the Bombay High Court, citing a violation of the Representation of the People Act, 1951.

Looking ahead, these results could influence the political landscape leading up to the 2027 general elections, with parties strategizing to consolidate their positions in these key regions.
