On May 17, 2026, Bangladesh’s Prime Minister Tarique Rahman launched the second phase of the Family Card Piloting Programme, distributing Family Cards to 669 families in Rajshahi. This initiative, conducted via video conference, is part of a nationwide effort to provide financial assistance to families in need.

The programme was inaugurated from Chandpur Government College, where the Prime Minister also initiated digital transfers of allowance money to 14,370 women beneficiaries using mobile financial services. This marks a significant step in digitalizing financial aid distribution across 20 units of the country.

In Rajshahi, the local distribution took place at Baya Shishu Paribar Ground, covering three villages: Berpara, Dabirmolla Para, and Darga Para, under Ward No. 5 of Haripur Union in Paba Upazila. The event saw the presence of notable figures including Land Minister Mizanur Rahman Minu and Rajshahi City Corporation Administrator Mahfuzur Rahman Riton.

Family Cards Expected Benefits

The Family Card initiative is expected to enhance financial inclusion and support economic stability in rural areas. Future phases will continue to expand this support to more families across Bangladesh, aligning with the government’s commitment to leveraging technology for social welfare.
