Starting July 1, 2025, Bangladesh has mandated that all certificates, licenses, and permits (CLPs) for import and export activities must be submitted through the Bangladesh Single Window (BSW) system. This new regulation, enforced by the National Board of Revenue (NBR), aims to streamline trade processes, enhance transparency, and improve efficiency in customs operations.

The BSW system, a digital platform, allows traders to submit all necessary documentation electronically, reducing paperwork and expediting clearance times. This shift is expected to simplify compliance for businesses engaged in international trade while aligning with global standards for digital trade facilitation. The NBR has emphasized that the system will help reduce delays and improve coordination among government agencies involved in trade regulation.

Recent posts on X indicate that the business community has been preparing for this transition, with many traders already adapting to the BSW platform. The move comes after the NBR resolved a recent strike by its officials, ensuring smoother implementation of the new system. However, some businesses have expressed concerns about the need for technical support and training to fully utilize the platform, particularly for small and medium-sized enterprises.

This regulation marks a significant step toward modernizing Bangladesh’s trade infrastructure, potentially boosting its competitiveness in global markets. Traders are advised to register with the BSW system and ensure compliance to avoid disruptions in their import and export activities.
