The India-Africa partnership is emerging as a critical pillar of global stability and development, according to External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar. Speaking on April 23, 2026, at the unveiling of the India-Africa Forum Summit-IV logo, Jaishankar emphasized the partnership’s role in addressing global geopolitical challenges.
Jaishankar noted that the summit offers a unique opportunity to deepen engagement between the two regions. The summit, themed ‘Enduring Partnership Shared Vision,’ is set to shape a more ambitious and inclusive future for India-Africa relations.
The minister highlighted India’s expanded diplomatic presence in Africa, with 46 missions across the continent. Jaishankar underscored Africa’s central role in India’s foreign policy, guided by principles of equality and mutual respect.
He also referenced the historical ties between India and Africa, rooted in shared struggles against colonialism. The inclusion of the African Union in the G20 under India’s presidency in 2023 was cited as a significant step in global governance.
Jaishankar concluded by emphasizing the importance of development cooperation, security, and maritime cooperation in the partnership. The summit is expected to pave the way for future collaboration, aligning with India’s Viksit Bharat 2047 vision and Africa’s Agenda 2063.
