India-Egypt Defence Cooperation: have taken significant steps to enhance their defence cooperation at the 11th Joint Defence Committee meeting held in Cairo from April 20 to 22. This meeting outlined a strategic roadmap aimed at deepening bilateral military engagement between the two nations.

The Indian delegation, led by Joint Secretary (International Cooperation) Amitabh Prasad, engaged with top Egyptian defence officials to review the progress made since the last meeting. Both sides identified new areas for collaboration and agreed on a comprehensive bilateral defence cooperation plan for 2026–27.

Key focuses of the plan include expanding structured military engagements, intensifying joint training exchanges, and boosting maritime security cooperation. The agreement also aims to increase the scope and complexity of military exercises between the two countries.

Historically, India and Egypt have shared a strong bilateral relationship, with defence cooperation being a cornerstone. The latest meeting builds on previous agreements and seeks to address emerging security challenges in the region.

Looking ahead, both countries are expected to hold further discussions to implement the outlined plans and explore additional avenues for cooperation, enhancing regional stability and security.
