Pakistan Malaysia Naval Cooperation: Maritime Ties with Malaysia Strengthened

Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf visited Malaysia on February 8, 2026, aiming to enhance naval cooperation. He met with Admiral Tan Sri (Dr) Zulhelmy bin Ithnain, Chief of the Royal Malaysian Navy, and was honored with a guard of honor.

Pakistan Malaysia Naval Cooperation

The discussions centered on aligning strategic perspectives, enhancing operational cooperation, capacity building, and addressing maritime security challenges. Admiral Ashraf highlighted Pakistan Navy’s contributions to regional stability through Regional Maritime Security Patrols and participation in the Combined Maritime Forces.

During his visit, Admiral Ashraf also toured Malaysia’s National Hydrographic Centre, focusing on strengthening cooperation with Pakistan’s National Hydrographic Office in training, data exchange, and professional collaboration.

This visit reaffirms the enduring naval partnership between Pakistan and Malaysia and their commitment to future-oriented maritime cooperation. The visit coincides with Pakistan’s efforts to deepen military ties with regional partners, as evidenced by the recent International Pakistan Army Team Spirit Competition involving 19 countries, including Malaysia.
