On February 17, 2026, the newly elected members of Bangladesh’s 13th National Parliament will take their oaths of office. The ceremony will be conducted by Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin, with the cabinet members being sworn in later that afternoon by President Md Sahabuddin.

The Election Commission Secretary, Akhtar Ahmed, confirmed this schedule during a press briefing held on February 14, 2026. The 13th National Parliamentary Election, which took place on February 12, saw voting in 299 out of 300 constituencies.

The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) emerged victorious with 209 seats, while Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami secured 68 seats. The National Citizens Party, a member of the 11-party alliance, won six seats, and the Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis, also part of the alliance, captured two seats.

Additional wins included one seat each by the Bangladesh National Party, Gono Odhikar Parishad, Ganasamhati Andolon, Khelafat Majlis, and Islami Andolan Bangladesh. Independent candidates claimed seven seats. This political shift marks a significant moment in Bangladesh’s governance, setting the stage for future developments.
