Pakistan Initiates Repatriation of Citizens Amid Iran Conflict

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to ensure the safe return of Pakistani citizens currently stranded in Iran. This directive was issued during a high-level meeting held on March 1, 2026, to assess the security situation in the wake of recent US-Israeli military actions against Iran and subsequent Iranian retaliations.

The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of coordinating with Azerbaijan to facilitate the repatriation process. He urged the Ministry to engage promptly with Azerbaijani authorities to secure a safe passage for the citizens.

In response to the escalating tensions, Shehbaz Sharif has called for heightened security measures across federal and provincial levels. He stressed the necessity for all relevant institutions to work in unison to protect national security.

The meeting, attended by key ministers and security officials, highlighted the readiness of Pakistan’s armed forces under the leadership of Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir. The Prime Minister praised the armed forces for their dedication and the sacrifices made in the fight against terrorism.

As the situation develops, further diplomatic engagements and security assessments are expected. The government remains vigilant, ensuring the safety and sovereignty of Pakistan.
