This announcement was made during the second session of the Pakistan-Uzbekistan Joint Working Group on Trade, held in Islamabad under the leadership of Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Industries and Production, Haroon Akhtar Khan.

The meeting, which took place on March 7, 2026, reviewed the progress on previously agreed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) and explored new measures to enhance trade routes and sectoral cooperation. Key participants included Secretary Commerce Jawad Paul and representatives from various ministries, alongside officials from the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC).

The session also focused on enhancing cooperation in energy, transport, agriculture, and industry. Eight working groups have been established to develop detailed sector-specific strategies, which were presented for further discussion. The meeting concluded with a commitment to accelerate joint initiatives aimed at improving access to Central Asian markets.
