5G Spectrum Auction Pakistan: On March 10, 2026, Pakistan successfully auctioned 5G spectrum worth $507 million, a strategic move to enhance internet speeds and digital connectivity. The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) facilitated the auction, marking a significant step in the nation’s digital advancement.

Telecom giants Jazz, Zong, and Ufone participated in the auction, with Jazz securing the largest share of 190 MHz. The auction included various frequency bands, such as 700 MHz, 2300 MHz, 2600 MHz, and 3500 MHz, totaling 480 MHz sold.

This auction follows a previous one where only Ufone participated due to stringent terms. This time, improved conditions attracted more bidders, reflecting the government’s commitment to fostering a competitive telecom environment.

Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb highlighted the auction’s economic significance, emphasizing its role in positioning Pakistan within the global digital economy. Information Technology Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja praised the transparency of the process, noting the public broadcast of bidding activities.

Looking ahead, the rollout of 5G services will initially focus on Islamabad and provincial capitals, with plans to expand nationwide. This development is expected to significantly boost internet speeds, benefiting both businesses and consumers across Pakistan.
