Sahibzada Farhan Honored as ICC Player of the Month

Sahibzada Farhan, Pakistan’s opening batsman, has been awarded the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for February 2026 following his remarkable performance at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup held in Sri Lanka.

Farhan emerged as the tournament’s top run-scorer, accumulating 383 runs in seven matches with an average of 76.60. His exceptional batting included two centuries and two half-centuries, and he achieved a strike rate of 160.25, surpassing Virat Kohli’s previous record for the most runs in a single T20 World Cup edition.

The 29-year-old’s extraordinary feat of scoring two centuries in one global T20 event, against Namibia and Sri Lanka, has set a new benchmark. Expressing his elation, Farhan stated, ‘It’s an incredible feeling to win this ICC award, especially on the World Cup stage where fans globally are engaged.’

Farhan’s achievements have propelled him to second place in the ICC Men’s T20I batting rankings, a career-high position. He was also part of a record 176-run partnership with Fakhar Zaman, marking the highest T20I partnership for any wicket.

Despite Pakistan’s narrow victory over Sri Lanka, they did not progress to the semi-finals due to a lower net run rate. Farhan’s inclusion in the ICC Team of the Tournament underscores his impact, with scores of 47, 73, 0, 100, DNB, 63, and 100* across the matches.
