Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong met with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on March 26, 2026, to reaffirm China’s commitment to supporting Pakistan’s trade and investment initiatives. The meeting, held in Islamabad, was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar.
During the discussions, Ambassador Jiang praised Pakistan’s economic resilience and reform efforts. He emphasized China’s continued support, particularly in advancing the second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC 2.0), focusing on agriculture, industrial cooperation, and priority infrastructure projects.
The leaders expressed satisfaction with the ongoing exchanges between the two countries and looked forward to high-level engagements to celebrate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations. Prime Minister Sharif highlighted Pakistan’s role in promoting de-escalation in West Asia, underscoring the importance of regional stability.
Both parties reaffirmed the enduring Pakistan-China All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership and emphasized the need for continued coordination on mutual interests. The meeting concluded with a commitment to future collaboration and strengthening bilateral ties.
